Iranian President Pezeshkian Urges Muslim Nations to Bar Foreign Aggression From Their Soil

TEHRAN — Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has called for greater unity and strategic solidarity among Islamic countries, declaring that no Muslim nation should allow its territory to be used as a launchpad for military operations against neighboring states.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 40th International Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran, Pezeshkian addressed delegates from dozens of countries amid heightened geopolitical confrontation involving the United States and Israel. He emphasized that Tehran’s defensive posture carries no hostility toward neighboring or regional Muslim nations, while urging a collective effort to prevent external powers from exploiting local airspaces or military bases.

“Defending Iran does not mean hostility toward Muslim nations or neighboring countries,” Pezeshkian stated during his broadcasted address. “No Islamic country should allow its territory to be used as a launchpad for aggression against another Islamic country. No Islamic country should seek its own security through the insecurity of its neighbors.”

Highlighting the economic, geographic, and demographic weight of the 57 Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states, Pezeshkian argued that regional divisions have enabled foreign intervention and weakened collective leverage. To bridge these divides, the Iranian president proposed a mutual non-aggression framework among Islamic states, a permanent OIC conflict-resolution mechanism, and expanded intra-regional economic and technological cooperation.
