Zayn Malik Uses Global Platform to Rally Support for Gaza and UNICEF Relief Efforts

LONDON — British-Pakistani singer Zayn Malik has reshared an urgent appeal from UNICEF to his 51 million Instagram followers, drawing global attention to the humanitarian crisis impacting children and families in Gaza.

The former One Direction star amplified a UNICEF update detailing the human and structural toll of recent strikes in the Gaza Strip. The post documented the deaths of four children alongside the destruction of a warehouse containing vital UNICEF nutrition supplies and severe damage to a key water facility. Resharing the call for immediate civilian protection, Malik emphasized UNICEF’s message that “children and the infrastructure they depend on must be protected” while encouraging his followers to contribute to humanitarian relief.

Malik has consistently used his platform over the years to advocate for Palestinian human rights. In May 2021, the artist issued a public statement condemning violence against civilians, writing that “we cannot stand as silent witnesses to children being orphaned and murdered and not demand for the human rights of all Palestinians”.

In addition to social media advocacy, Malik has directed resources toward on-the-ground relief. He previously partnered with the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF) and encouraged fan-led fundraising campaigns that redirected tens of thousands of dollars toward medical aid and urgent supplies for Gaza’s displaced families.
